Grace Anderson, a senior at Keller High School in Keller, Texas, has made a verbal commitment to the University of Arizona for 2020-21. Until this fall, Anderson attended Half Moon Bay High School and swam for Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics in Northern California. She is currently with Lakeside Aquatic Club in Flower Mound, Texas.
Anderson is quite versatile but she specializes mainly in sprint free. At 2019 CIF Central Coast Championships she came in 3rd in the 50 free (23.40) and 4th in the 100 free (50.36). She swam breast (30.28) on the HMB medley relay and anchored their 400 free relay. She went on to the California State Meet the following weekend and finished 11th in the 50 (23.43) and 14th in the 100 (51.23). Anderson swam the 100 free, 100 back, and 100 breast at Far Westerns in April and came in 4th, 14th, and 13th, respectively. This summer she lowered her LCM times in the 50 free (26.72), 200 free (2:08.80), 50 fly (29.60), 100 fly (1:05.09), and 200 IM (2:27.59).
Anderson will join Julia Heimstead, Maddy Burt, and Tia Lindsay in the Arizona class of 2024. She’ll train with a sprint group that had six sub-23 50 freestylers and six sub-50 100 freestylers last year. She will overlap with Kayla Filipek (22.31/49.44), Jamie Stone (22.45/49.29), Alayna Connor (22.60/50.40), Madison Blakesley (23.49), Monica Gumina (23.50/51.05 ), and Vicky Navarro (50.78).
