Trinidad and Tobago’s star swimmer George Bovell was just awarded the Sports Personality of the Year award chosen by the TV6 viewers. CCN TV6 In Trinidad is one of the main television networks, adding more prestige to the award.

Bovell, now 31, is still competing in the sport and most recently won a gold medal in the 50m freestyle and a bronze medal in the 50m backstroke at the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games held in Veracruz, Mexico this past November.

As one of Trinidad’s most successful athletes along with the fact that he has an electric personality which he shares with his fans via interactions with them, the media, and through his social media accounts; the award is extremely fitting.

Bovell was the recipient of this award in 2012 as well with almost 3000 viewers voting. In 2013 he was also nominated for the award, however he didn’t win a second one until this year.
