Gardner-Webb Gets Commitment From Garrett Despres

Garrett Despres, a current high school senior from Winterville, North Carolina, has committed to swim for Division I Gardner-Webb University. Despres will graduate from D.H. Conley High School in spring 2020 and join the Bulldogs’ class of 2024.

Despres is currently a year-round swimmer for the East Carolina Aquatics. At the Speedo Champions Series earlier this month, Despres placed 6^th in the 1650 freestyle (16:01.24).

With his current best times, Despres would have had multiple finals performances at the 2020 CCSA Championships with Gardner-Webb. Most notably, he would have placed 6^th in the 1650 freestyle (16:01.24), 14^th in the 500 freestyle (4:40.66), and 15^th in the 200 backstroke (1:53.98).

At the CCSA Championships this year, the Bulldogs placed 2^nd as a team.

Despres will begin his swimming career at Gardner-Webb University beginning fall 2020.
