Futures Qualifier Floyd Conlin Commits to Loyola University Maryland

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Loyola University Maryland has gained a verbal commitment from Futures qualifier Floyd Conlin.

I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my

academic and athletic career at Loyola University Maryland. I would

like to thank my family, coaches, and friends for helping me along

this journey. Also, a big thank you to Loyola coaches Brian and Jay

for giving me this opportunity. GO HOUNDS!”

Conlin, who owns Futures cuts in both the 100 breast and 400 IM, trains with the Summit Area YMCA and also competes for New Providence High School in New Jersey.

Top Times SCY:

  • 400 IM – 4:02.32
  • 100 breast – 57.84
  • 200 breast – 2:09.45
  • 100 free – 47.28R

He dropped his lifetime best 100 breast time of 57.84 recently at the NJ SAY GMNY December Classic while his fastest 400 IM and 100 free times are both from April 2021.

Conlin’s lifetime best times would have placed him just outside the ‘B’ final in the 400 IM and 100 breast at the 2020 Patriot League Conference Championships.

He will likely join the Greyhound’s 400 IM squad which is led by current junior Max Verheyen who placed 3rd at their 2020 conference championships with a time of 3:47.91. Freshman Michael Gozdan has made the biggest impact in  Loyola’s sprint breaststroke depth, posting a 57.80 to finish 2nd in the 100 breast at the Loyola vs Towson dual meet.

While Loyola had one ‘A’ finalist and two ‘B’ finalists in the 100 breast at the 2020 Patriot League Conference Championships, all three of them have graduated. In fact, 8th place finisher Jay Venit has now joined the coaching staff as an assistant coach. The highest-placing current member of the team was David Sears who finished 17th overall and is now a senior.

Conlin joins Owen Glaser, Michael Venit, Connor LiBassi, Peter Weinstein, and Teddy Cross as part of Loyola’s class of 2026 verbal commitments.

The Loyola men’s swimming and diving program is coming off a 3rd place finish at the 2020 Patriot League Conference Championships under head coach Brian Loeffler.

If you have a commitment to report, please send an email with a photo (landscape, or horizontal, looks best) and a quote to [email protected].
