Fresno Pacific Receives Commitment from In-state Fly/IM Specialist Cara Le

Walnut, California’s Cara Le announced her commitment to swim for the Fresno Pacific University Sunbirds beginning in the 2017-18 season.

“I am very excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim for Fresno Pacific University! I would like to thank my parents, coaches, and teammates who have been with me through it all. Go Sunbirds!”

Le swims for Walnut High School in CIF-Southern Section’s Division III. At the Section Championships in May she was runner-up in the 200 IM (2:08.25) and placed fourth in the 100 fly (56.56). She also contributed legs to Walnut’s first-place 400 free and 200 free relays (53.08 and 24.04, respectively), the latter of which set the Division III record. Le went on to compete at the California State Championships in the 100 fly, where she finished 28th.

Le does her year-round swimming with Brea Aquatics. This fall she has already achieved lifetime bests in the 100 free, 200 breast, 100 fly, and 200 fly, and has yet to swim a championship meet.

Le will hope to fill the hole left on the Sunbirds’ roster when Daria Belova graduates this spring. Belova won the 100 fly and 200 breast, and was runner-up in the 200 IM at the 2017 PCSC Championships. Le would have joined Belova in the A final of the 100 fly; she also would have been an A finalist in the 200 fly and 200 free, and a B finalist in the 200 IM.

Best SCY times:

  • 100 fly – 56.52
  • 200 fly – 2:06.42
  • 200 IM – 2:08.25
  • 100 free – 53.70
  • 200 free – 1:55.98
