Bolles Sharks sprinter Lauren Dunn has verbally committed to the Auburn University Tigers class of 2020. The senior at Mandarin High School was a finalist at the 2014-15 4A Florida State Championships, placing 7th in the 50-yard free in a time of 24.08.

In high school, Dunn has lettered in tennis, cross-country, track and swimming. She also danced for 13 years. Before swimming for Bolles, she enjoyed her Summer Rec League team, the Baymeadows Blue Dolphins.

Once she turned her focus to swimming and joined the Bolles School Sharks Club Team in June of 2014, her sprint free times improved dramatically. She dropped 3 seconds in the 50 LCM free, from 29.01 to 26.54, which qualified her for the 2015 Summer Junior Nationals.

She also dropped 4 seconds in her 100-yard free, improving from 55:04 to 51.47.

Dunn’s best times are as follows:

  • 50-yard free: 23.81
  • 100-yard free: 51.47

“The spirit of Auburn University has captivated me for years. From the team’s warm welcome on my Official Visit to the incredible academic opportunities ahead, I know that Auburn will be the best fit for me as a student-athlete.  I’m really looking forward to becoming a part of the Auburn family!  War Eagle!” -Dunn

Dunn’s primary events are the sprint freestyles, which is where Auburn is the deepest. She would’ve ranked 11th in the 50 free and 9th in the 100 free, but her junior season saw her drop a full second in the 50 and swim the 13 fastest 50 freestyles of her career. Her athleticism and those improvements show the kind of potential that earned her a spot at Auburn.

So far, Auburn women’s team has done a great deal of sprint freestyle and backstroke recruiting. Next fall, Dunn will join new teammates; backstroke/IM’er Annie Boone, sprint freestyler/backstroker Camille Porter, distance freestyler/backstroker Caroline Schirmer, versatile Jessica Merritt, sprinter Robyn Clevenger and sprint freestyler/flyer Sierra Jett.
