I actually call this drill “Full human paddle”. Underwater freestyle is actually fully submerged swimming for my team (can be done with fins to make it easier). There should be a video of this Underwater freestyle drill on the ProSwimWorkouts website soon.

My team when I was a kid called this “People Paddle.” Whereas dog paddle is a short stroke without over-water recovery, people paddle is a long stroke without over-water recovery.
