Kentucky_w_EdelmanLauren Edelman, a junior at Fishers High School in Fishers, Indiana, has made a verbal commitment to swim for the University of Kentucky in 2017-18.

“I have chosen to verbally commit to the University of Kentucky because of the academic opportunities and the swimming program under the leadership of Coach Lars Jorgensen. I believe in what he is doing and I look forward to being a part of the WildCat Family.”

Edelman swims for Fishers High School and Fishers Area Swimming Tigers, where she specializes in breast and IM events. She placed sixth in both the 200 IM and 100 breast at the 2016 IHSAA Girls Swimming/Diving Championship last February, and was a member of Fishers’ 200 medley and 400 free relays.

In long course, Edelman has qualified for 2016 Olympic Trials in the 200 breast, 200 IM and 400 IM. Her top times are:

  SCY LCM
100 breast 1:02.47 1:12.36
200 breast 2:16.49 2:33.61*
200 IM 1:59.77 2:18.08*
400 IM 4:14.44 4:46.39*
100 fly 56.28 1:03.33
200 fly 2:00.64 2:15.83

The Wildcats are coming off a successful 2015-16 campaign, in which the women’s program had its first-ever NCAA swimming champion with Danielle Galyer’s victory in the 200 back. With only one senior graduating and a huge and talented incoming class of freshman on the way, the Wildcats will look to improve on their 35th-place finish at 2016 NCAAs next season.

Kentucky was stronger in free, back, and fly than in breast and IM events this season, and will need some reinforcements when current junior Kendra Crew graduates after next season. Edelman will have an opportunity to make a big impact as soon as she suits up in Kentucky blue.

Way to go Lauren. Kentucky will be a great fit. We had the pleasure of working with Lauren and her parents with the college recruiting process. Congrats to our Assistant Director of Swimming, Donny Brush for helping Lauren and her folks.
Kentucky is getting a good one.

I am Lauren’s father and I can tell you that Rick and Donnie have done everything they say they would do to make the recruiting process a great experience . As a parent with a college bound swimmer we recommend connecting with Rick ASAP!
