First Round Of Japan’s 2018 Pan Pacific C’ships Roster Announced

2018 JAPAN SWIM (JAPANESE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS)

The 2018 Japan Swim concluded with the nation’s biggest players making waves at the site of the Tatsumi International Swim Centre. The pool will be home to the Pan Pacific Championships this August, thus it was fitting this week’s championships served as 1 of 2 qualifying meets for Japan for that quadrennial event.

As such, 22 swimmers have just been named by the Japanese Swimming Federation to the Pan Pacific Championships roster, with the remaining slots set to be filled with the Japan Open in May. Among the high-profile stars set for action at home against the United States, Canada, Australia and other nations are 4-time national record-setter/gold medalist Rikako Ikee, IM maestro Kosuke Hagino and sprinting stud Katsumi Nakamura.

Below is the roster per discipline, although the events are not yet specified:

Men:

Freestyle – Katsumi Nakamura, Katsuhiro Matsumoto, Naito Ehara, Syogo Takeda

Backstroke – Ryosuke Irie, Keita Sunama

Breaststroke – Yasuhiro Koseki, Ippei Watanabe

Butterfly  – Nao Horomura, Daiya Seto

IM – Kosuke Hagino, Daiya Seto

Relays – Shinri Shiouri

 

Women:

Freestyle – Rikako Ikee

Backstroke – Natsumi Sakai, Anna Konishi

Breaststroke – Reona Aoki, Satomi Suzuki, Kanako Watanabe

Butterfly – Rikako Ikee

IM – Yui Ohashi, Miho Teramoto, Sakiko Shimizu

Relays – Chihiro Igarashi

 

Additionally, national record holder Junya Koga has been named to the Asian Games squad, with the remaining participants also to be determined at the Japan Open.
