With three event wins in four swims on the first day of the first stop of the 2012 FINA World Cup Series in Dubai today, Katinka Hosszu has roared to the top of the money table. Her results include an extra $500 in her final event of the day, the 200 backstroke, which is little more than an afterthought in her typical event schedule, so getting that sort of cash out of it is a nice little bonus for her.

The only other swimmer to win the equivalent of over two event victories is Japan’s Daiya Seto, who won the 400 IM, then placed 2nd in both the 200 fly and the 200 breaststroke – further highlighting his versatility.

Among the Americans, both Anthony Ervin ($1,000 for 2nd in the 100 free) and Sean Mahoney ($500 for 3rd in the 200 breast) picked up some cash on the first day.

Note that no cash prizes are given out for the mixed medleys.
