FINA Releases Video Teaser Ahead of 2017 World Championships

The 2017 version of the FINA World Championships is set to take place this summer in Budapest, Hungary from July 14th to 30th. Swimmers from all over the world will gather in Budapest to represent their respective countries in the biggest international meet of 2017.

Check out FINA’s video teaser for the event below to get a first look at some of the venues and the sights to see in Budapest.

FINA’s Video Description:

The 17th FINA World Championships will be held in Budapest and Balatonfüred from July 14th to 30th, 2017. Lining up almost 3,000 athletes in six different disciplines, competing in 75 contests over a period of 17 days, the FINA Championships will impose a huge challenge on its organisers, since the preparation period was curtailed to four years.

In Budapest, we’ll get a chance to see some of the breakout stars from the Rio Olympics take the stage again. Athletes from 6 different aquatic sports will be competing at the event:

  • pool swimming
  • open water swimming
  • diving
  • water polo
  • synchronized swimming
  • high diving

Pool swimming, synchro swimming, diving, and water polo will all take place at the newly constructed Palace of the Pools facility.

FINA better check the pool this time for “currents” that affect the different swimming lanes.

It’s the least they can do, considering the problems with doping and suspensions that FINA is having trouble dealing with.

Nice to see the event go to a location where the locals are going to show it the love it deserves instead of a high bidder with no aquatic heritage. It’s going to be a great meet at great venues.
