Hong Kong was the final stop on the 2013 FINA 10K open water swimming world cup series and the title was up for grabs. Brazil continues to show it’s a serious force in the open water with Samuel De Bona taking gold in the men’s race and Poliana Okimoto winning the gold in the women’s event.

Although they didn’t top the podium like they have so many times on this circuit, series titles went to Emily Brunemann (USA) and Thomas Lurz (Germany).  Brunemann told us this was one of her goals for the season. She now plans to return to Ann Arbor where she’ll take a short break and focus on dryland training before resuming training in the pool.
