Fast-Rising SVY Sprinter Sam Hendrix Chooses Kentucky

Sam Hendrix of Somerset Valley YMCA has given his verbal commitment to the University of Kentucky for next fall. He’s a sprint freestyler and butterflier who has made huge improvements in one season’s time.

Hendrix has undergone some serious renovations in the last year, earning a Winter Juniors cut in the 50 free in both short and long course. He recently finished 9th in the 50 fly, 17th in the 50 free, t-17th in the 100 free, and anchored SVY’s 3rd place 200 medley relay, t-3rd place 400 medley relay, and 4th place 200 and 400 free relays at the YMCA Long Course Summer Nationals.

Kentucky only had two guys under 21 seconds in the 50 free last season, and he would have been #3 on their top times list in that event. He would’ve also been #5 in the 100 free and just outside of their top 5 in the 100 fly.
