Eva Merrell Scratches 2, Maggie Aroesty 1, on Day 2 of Summer Juniors

2017 U.S. JUNIOR NATIONALS

Margaret Aroesty of Long Island Aquatic Club has again scratched out of an event; after dropping the 100 breaststroke on Tuesday, where she was seeded #1, the rising freshman at USC scratched the 400 IM for Day 2 of the 2017 Junior National Championships in New York. Aquazot Swim Club’s Eva Merrell also appears not to be swimming at Juniors. She was a DFS in the 200 fly on Day 1 and now does not show up on the heat sheet for Day 2, where she had entered both the 200 back and 100 free.

Two more top-8 seeds scratched the 400 IM, along with #1 Aroesty: #2 Kenisha Liu of Brea Aquatics and #8 Samantha Shelton of Mission Viejo. Liu is still swimming the 100 free on Day 2, while Shelton will not make an appearance at all.

The only top-8 boy to scratch an event is Tal Davis of Team Greenville, who has given up his spot as #3 seed in the 200 back to focus on the 400 IM, where he is seeded second. Penn Charter Aquatic Club’s Reece Whitley, a DFS in the 100 breast on Day 1, is on the heat sheet for the 100 free on Wednesday.

Here are all of the scratches out of the circle-seeded heats (top 24 of the 200 back and 100 free, top 16 of the 400 IM) for tomorrow morning’s events:
