Emory Women Take Down NCAA D3 200 Medley Relay Record to End Day 1

200 Yard Medley Relay – Finals

  • NCAA Record: 1:40.58 3/18/2015, Kenyon (Oberholzer, Duncan, Cooper, McLeod)

After notching the top qualifying time in prelims with 1:41.40, Emory came back in finals and unleashed a combined 1:40.12 to take down the NCAA Division III record of 1:40.58 that was set by Kenyon in 2015. Emory was pushed by Denison throughout the race but prevailed at the end to get the win and the record.

The Eagles led off with Cindy Cheng, whose 25.15 was the fastest backstroke split in the field. Hannah Lally followed with 28.13. Denison’s KT Kustritz split 27.12 on the breast, giving the Big Red the lead at the halfway point. The excitement continued into the butterfly legs, when Megan Campbell went 24.60 for Emory and Madison Hopkins notched a 24.63 for Denison. Megan Taylor took to the water with Emory down by .31 but her 22.24 anchor propelled the Eagles past Denison for the win.
