Dynamo’s John Ryan Commits to Lenoir-Rhyne Bears for 2018-19

Dynamo Swim Club’s John Ryan signed a NLI to swim for Lenoir-Rhyne University beginning in the fall of 2018. Ryan is the captain of the South Forsyth High School swim team; he swims year-round for Dynamo Swim Club at the Alpharetta Swim Center.

Ryan represented South Forsyth at the 2017 GHSA 6-7 A State Swimming & Diving Meet, where he competed in the 100 fly and 200 IM individually, swam the fly leg of the South Forsyth 200 medley relay, and anchored the 400 free relay. Ryan really shone in club swimming, though. He had an outstanding long course season, wrapping up his summer of 2017 at the Georgia Swimming Senior State Championships. There he improved his times in the 50/200 breast, 50/200 fly, and 200 IM. This was 2 weeks after notching a PB in the LCM 400 IM, and a month after going best times in the LCM 100 breast and 100 fly. Ryan had significant time drops in all his long-course events, including 12 seconds in the 400 IM, 8 in the 200 breast, 4 in the 200 fly and 200 IM, 3.6 in the 100 breast, and 2 in the 100 fly.

Ryan will be an immediate contributor to the Bears. His best SCY times would have landed him on the LRU top 5 performers lists for 2016-17 season in the 100/200 breast, 100/200 fly, and 200/400 IM.

Best SCY times:

  • 400 IM – 4:16.07
  • 200 IM – 1:59.50
  • 200 breast – 2:13.89
  • 100 breast – 1:00.74
  • 200 fly – 1:59.58
  • 100 fly – 53.55
