Less than a month after cranking out a new National Record in the men’s 50m freestyle event, Dutchman Jesse Puts  lowered his own mark while competing at his nation’s Open Short Course Championships.

On October 24th, Puts threw down a monster splash n’ dash time of 21.17 to overtake the previous national record of 21.41 held by Johan Kenkhuis since 2005. Today, however, Puts shaved off even more time, taking his new national record to a mark of 21.05. His gold medal-winning time now matches that of South African Chad Le Clos to co-represent the 4th-fastest time in the world thus far this SCM season.

Puts wasn’t done turning heads tonight, however, as the Aquarijn swimmer was instrumental in helping his mixed 4×50 freestyle relay squad win bronze during Friday’s final. Although the foursome from his club fell behind the MNC Dordrecht and De Dolfijn squads who finished in gold and silver places, respectively, Puts scored an incredible anchor of 20.49. That mark checks in as the 2nd fastest SCM relay split ever clocked by a Dutch swimmer.

In another redux of sorts from the same International Swimming Festival took place in Aachen, Germany last month, 18-year-old swimmer Kim Busch lowered her own 100m butterfly record while competing today in Hoofddorp.

Last month, the NTC Eindhoven swimmer notched a personal best time of 58.89 in the women’s 100m butterfly, scoring herself a new age record in the process. Her sub-59 outing replaced the previous 18 year age record of 59.60 held by Olympian Ranomi Kromowidjojo Yesterday, Busch fired off a new personal best of 58.07, a time which knocked a solid .82 of a second off of what she produced just last month for a shiny new age record.

Among the other age group records which fell in Hoofddorp, 2016 Olympian Marrit Steenbergen notched a new Dutch 16 year old age mark during the meet, touching in 1:56.32 to take the women’s 200m freestyle event. That overtook the previous record of 1:58.24 held by the women’s open water Olympic champion in Rio, Sharon van Rouwendaal.

The final day of the meet continues tomorrow with prelims beginning at 9am local.
