Dutch Release 2017 World Championships Rosters

Following the Eindhoven Cup, The Royal Dutch Swimming Federation (KZNB) has released the names of the swimmers selected for the World Championships, World Para Swimming Championships, and the European Junior Championships in 2017. The World Championships will be held in Budapest, Hungary in July. The World Para Swimming Championships will be held in Mexico City from September 30th-October 7th. The European Youth Championships will be held from June 28th-July 2nd in Netanya, Israel.

For the World Championships team, friendly faces Femke Heemskerk and Kira Toussaint highlight the qualifiers for the women. Heemskerk will swim the 100m and 200m freestyle events and Toussaint the 50m backstroke in Budapest. For the men, breaststroker Arno Kamminga will compete in Hungary in the 50m and 200m breaststroke events. The full list of swimmers who have been announced is below:

In 2017, the World Para Swimming World Series has been introduced and will conduct meets from March-July 2017. The Dutch announced ten swimmers who will compete at the culminating event in 2017, the World Para Swimming Championships in Mexico City. Marc Evers highlights the team heading to the meet as a two time medalist at the Paralympics in London in 2012. The full list of swimmers announced is below:

The final team announced by KZNB this week was the European Junior Championships team which will compete in late June and early July in Israel. Both Nyls Korstanje and Marrit Steenbergen will compete in five individual events in Netanya. Korstanje will compete in the 50m, 100m, and 200m freestyle as well as the 50m and 100m butterfly events. Steenbergen will compete in the same freestyle events as well as the 100m butterfly and 200m IM. The full list of swimmers announced is below:

People are still able to qualify till June 18th for spots that nobody has qualified for yet. So Dion could still qualify in the 200 freestyle since nobody reached that standard yet.

Dion will has two qualifying opportunities left. Guess both will be Arena Grand Prix somewhere in the US. Above roster is based on swimmers who used the Dutch route and dutch timings. Anyone who didn’t follow this route has untill the 18th of June to qualify for positions that haven’t been filled yet.
