Dukes Claim All 14 Events For Decisive Win Against Saint Francis U

PITTSBURGH – The Duquesne swimming and diving team posted its second win in as many days with a 151-96 victory over Saint Francis U on Saturday afternoon at Towers Pool.

The Dukes won all 14 events on the day, highlighted by three first-place marks by Katelyn Harkrader, who paced the 100 back (59.34), 200 back (2:07.62) and 200 medley relay (1:48.56) with teammates Abby MeleMendy De Rooi and Sydney Sherman.

Sherman and De Rooi added a first-place time in the 200 free relay (1:38.07) to cap the meet along with Hanna Everhart and Leah Reisker.

Reisker posted a first-place finish in the 1000 free (11:00.52) while Everhart paced the 50 free (24.97) for Duquesne.

Seven other Dukes registered first-place showings on the day, including Hayley Taylor in the 200 free (1:53.87), Audrey Steen in the 100 breast (1:08.28), Haley Scholer in the 200 fly (2:10.24), Madison Dickert in the 200 breast (2:26.03), Emma Menzer in the 500 free (5:15.49), Sophia Perez in the 100 fly (58.82) as well as Orla Egan in the 400 IM (4:34.60).

Duquesne heads to SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio for the Atlantic 10 Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 30 and Sunday, Oct. 31.

The Red Flash had three swimmers secure a second place finish as Saint Francis fell to Duquesne in their third meet of the 2021 season.

Krysta Weik snagged second place in the 400 IM for the Red Flash. Amalia Bradburn claimed second place in the 1000 freestyle and 50-yard freestyle, while Jessica Rupp secured second place in the 200 backstroke.

Final Scores:

Duquesne 151, Saint Francis 96

HOW IT HAPPENED
Weik finished in second place in the 400 IM with a speedy time of 4:44.40.

Bradburn took second in the 1000 freestyle in a time of 11:08.28 and the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 25:55.

Rupp had a second-place finish in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:12.26 for Saint Francis.

 UP NEXT

Saint Francis will be back in action on Saturday, November 6th when they travel to Youngstown State to battle the Penguins.
