Prelims begin at 11 AM Eastern
Finals begin at 7 PM Eastern

The finals for day 2 of this meet:

  • 200 Medley Relay
  • 400 IM
  • 100 Fly
  • 200 Free
  • 100 Breast
  • 100 Back
  • 3-Meter Diving
  • 800 Free Relay (no preliminary heats)

The race of this session, and maybe of the meet, is the 100 fly. It’s hard to pick against Kelsey Floyd, after splitting under 51 in the 400 medley relay. Nobody can afford to coast through prelims of this 100 fly after how many swimmers we saw split 51 on medley relays on Thursday. We’ll also see Elizabeth Beisel, Caitlin Leverenz, and Maya DiRado go toe-to-toe in the 400 IM, hopefully with better results than we saw in the 200 IM.

The 200 free will be Georgia’s time to shine (they could have another 5 scorers, like they did in the 500 free); Cal needs to get the job done in the 100 backstroke and the 100 fly if they want to give themselves a chance to win this meet.

Molly Hannis from Tennessee looks like as much of a contender in the 100 breaststroke as anyone after the medley relay, so don’t expect a runaway from Texas A&M’s Breeja Larson. The momentum that the Volunteers are feeling can’t be underestimated in Hannis’ corner.

A reminder of the top 10 teams through the meet’s first day:

1. Georgia 163
2. Tennessee 150.5
3. Arizona 127
4. California 102
5. Stanford 90.5
6. Southern Cal 90
7. Florida 74
8. Texas A&M 72
9. Texas 65
10. Minnesota 41

For those top 10 teams, below we’ve listed the anticipated scoring, based on seeding, from day 2 of the meet. Keep in mind that Arizona, when they put Margo Geer on their 800 free relay, will score way higher than seeded, though they’ll need to find a way to fill out some individual scoring. Texas A&M, after struggling on the first day of this meet, will have plenty of opportunities to claw back into the top 5.

Day 2 Projection Based on Psych Sheet
Cal 161
Texas A&M 146
Florida 135
Georgia 118
Tennessee 110
USC 106
Stanford 103
Texas 65
Minnesota 64
Arizona 56
