Cy-Fair High School senior Anna Ervin has given a verbal commitment to the University of Arkansas for 2020-21 where she will join Alabama’s Bradi Jones in the class of 2024. Ervin trains year-round with Fleet Swimming, part of Cypress Fairbanks Swim Club in Cypress, Texas, and specializes in butterfly, sprint free, backstroke, and IM.
A two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American, Ervin won the consolation final of the 100 fly (56.29) and led off the 6th-place 200 free relay (24.59) and 17th-place 400 free relay (54.18) at 2018 Texas UIL 6A State Championships. She clocked a Summer Juniors qualifying time in the 100m fly this summer with her sixth-place finish of 1:02.23 at Des Moines Futures. She also finaled in the 100m free, picking up a new PB of 59.25. Additionally, she improved her LCM times in the 400 free, 100 back, 50/200 fly, and 200 IM over the summer. Ervin’s most successful meet was College Station Sectionals in March, where she updated her PBs in the 100/200 free, 100 back, and 100/200 fly and finaled in the 100 free and 100 fly.
Head coach Neil Harper is entering his fourth year at the helm of the Razorbacks’ program and has racked up a 20-9 dual meet record through his first three seasons. In 2018-19, Arkansas placed 8th at SECs and 19th at NCAAs, up 8 spots from the previous season. While free/fly standout Anna Hopkin is in her last year of eligibility this season, Ervin will join a strong training group composed of Kobie Melton, Kenedy Thaman, Molly Moore, Erin McGuirt, Brittney Pike, and Jessie Beckwith.
