CSCAA Releases Final "NCAA Prediction" Poll

As we roll into championship season, the CSCAA has released their final women’s poll of the 2011-2012 season, which in their words serves as a predictor for the NCAA Championships.

Their poll correlates heavily to the psych sheet scoring  in the top 10. The two exceptions there are USC, which moves up to 4th as compared to 6th in pre-scoring, and Florida, which jumps one spot ahead of Auburn. These moves could be justified on the basis of diving, in which both Florida and USC are expecting points.

There are some more significant diversion further down the rankings, however. The pollsters liked Big Ten Champions Minnesota to again top conference rivals Indiana and Wisconsin. They also expect the Badgers to top the Hoosiers – though Indiana is seeded with more points and should have divers at the meet.

The biggest move up as compared to scoring was Ohio State. The voters in this week’s poll thought that they would move way up from seeds – where they’re only set at 26th place.

Overall, this poll doesn’t seem to have given much credit to diving outside of the top 8. Missouri’s Loren Figueroa could nab more than 45 points, yet they’re given only one spot as compared to seed.
