Colorado State Rams Get a Verbal Commitment from NCAP’s Ryli Waisanen

Ryli Waisanen, a senior at Christa McAuliffe Academy School of Arts and Sciences, has announced her verbal commitment to Colorado State University Swimming for the fall of 2015.

“I chose Colorado State because I fell in love with the coaches, the girls on the team, the campus and facilities, and the opportunities the university provides. Go Rams!”

Waisanen swims for Jeremy Linn on Nation’s Capital Swim Club. She specializes in sprint free and fly. Her top times over the last year have been:

50y free: 24.12 50m free: 27.62
100y free: 53.14 100m free: 1:00.79
100y fly: 58.21 100m fly: 1:08.59

In long course season this past year Waisanen dropped over a half a second in her 100m free, and she was nearly two seconds than two years ago. The improvement in her 100m fly has been even more marked: .6 in one year and nearly three seconds over the last two.

The Rams will be counting on Waisanen to help them improve on their 2014 Mountain West Conference finish. They desperately need points in her top three events: CSU had no finalists in either the 50 or the 100 free and only two in the 100 fly.

Waisanen relishes the opportunity to focus on sprinting at Colorado State, and is most excited about anchoring relays. She is a great fit for the Rams who could really use those relay double points at Mountain West.
