Cleveland State Ready for Zippy Invite

The Cleveland State men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will be back in action this weekend, Friday through Sunday (Dec. 4-6) at the Akron Zippy Invitational.

The three-day event, which will take place at UA’s Ocasek Natatorium, is a similar setup to CSU’s Magnus Cup. Each day will begin with prelims at 9:00 a.m. while the finals will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday (Dec. 4) and Saturday (Dec. 5) and 4:00 p.m. on Sunday (Dec. 6). The diving events will start at 1:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

The Cleveland State men’s team is coming off a successful Magnus Cup that saw many records fall en route to a first-place finish. Phillip Sikatzki’s efforts earned him Horizon League Swimmer of the Week honors for the second time this season. The women’s team is also coming off Magnus Cup competition that saw numerous top-10 finishes en route to a fifth-place team finish, in front of Horizon League opponent Youngstown State.

The teams will both be back in action for the final time in 2015 on Friday (Dec. 18) in a dual meet at Canisius.

Tickets must be paid in cash at the door and will be available 90 minutes before each session.
