CJ Woodruff of SwimAtlanta has announced that he will be staying within Georgia, committing to Emmanuel College to swim for the next four years. He will join the Lions in the fall of 2021.

Woodruff primarily competes in the sprint freestyle and breaststroke events. Earlier this year, at the 2021 GHSA 7A State Championships, he finished in the top-14 of both the 50 free (21.97) and 100 breast (59.26). He qualified for the finals of both the 100 and 200 breast at the 2021 Georgia Swimming Senior State Meet, swimming to new best times of 59.17 and 2:13.87.

Emmanuel were the 2021 Conference Carolinas team champions before going on to finish 15th at the NCAA DII Championships. The Lions were led by Joao Santos, the national champion in the 100 breast and 6th place finisher in the 200 breast. Santos was a senior, so Woodruff won’t have any overlap with him unless he chooses to remain with the team for an extra season using his year of Covid-19 eligibility.
At the 2021 Conference Carolinas Championships, Woodruff would have qualified for the A-final of the 100 breast, as well as the B-final of the 50 free, 100 free, and 200 breast.
