CJ McCartin will travel to the other end of the east coast from her home base in Coral Springs Florida to attend Providence College. McCartin trains with St. Andrews Swimming and naturally competes for St Andrews in high school swimming as well. McCartin is primarily a sprint freestyler who’s best times would have made her the Friars top sprinter last year:

  • 50 freestyle- 24.64
  • 100 freestyle- 53.39
  • 200 freestyle- 1:58.17

Providence’s top 50/100 freestyle was 24.6 and 53.8 last year, both of which were scoring swims in the Big East conference. McCartin will give a huge boost not only individually but to the Friar’s relays. McCartin has been a consistent contributor to Saint Andrews high school team, winning six varsity letters in her time there and swimming as a part of a school and county record 200 freestyle relay. McCartin also plays water polo for Saint Andrews, a sport she may be forced to give up as Providence does not have a Water Polo club.

The Friars finished fifth out of six teams in dramatically changed Big East conference last year.
