Cincinnati Trio, SMU’s Trahan Take Home AAC Weekly Awards

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s men’s and women’s swimming and diving honors for the week ending Jan. 13.

Male Swimmer of the Week

Dominic Polling * So. * Cincinnati

Polling swam for four first-place finishes on Saturday to help Cincinnati defeat crosstown rival Xavier 222.50-71.50 in a dual meet. The sophomore won both his individual events, leading the way in the 100 breaststroke (56.98) and 100 freestyle (46.60). He also swam as part of two first-place relay squads, swimming the second leg of the 200 medley relay (25.58) and the leadoff leg of the 400 freestyle relay (46.89).

Female Swimmer of the Week

Erin Trahan * Jr. * SMU

After earning three season-best marks at the Elite Pro-Am in December, which included a first-place NCAA B-cut time of 52.93 seconds in the 100 butterfly, Trahan has had a busy new year, winning three events and collecting five runner-up finishes through a trio of meets in January. The junior won the 200 butterfly (2:02.4) and swam as part of her team’s first-place 200 medley relay squad in a 178-66 dual-meet win against Loyola New Orleans on Jan. 4. The following day, she led the Mustangs with three runner-up finishes against No. 8 Texas A&M. Trahan was second in both the 50 (23.73) and 100 (51.90) freestyle, as well as the 100 butterfly (55.21). In a double-dual meet against Rice and Arkansas last Saturday, she placed first in the 100 butterfly (55.04), second in the 50 freestyle (23.58) and third in the 100 freestyle (52.24).

Male Diver of the Week

Dylan Porter * Fr. * Cincinnati

Porter won the 1-meter dive with a score of 231.40 and placed second in the 3-meter dive with a score of 242.05 on Saturday, as Cincinnati defeated Xavier. Both of his dives were season-best marks for the freshman.

Female Diver of the Week

Tricia Roscoe * Fr. * Cincinnati

Roscoe met the NCAA Zone Diving standards with her 1-meter score of 270.80 on Saturday for a runner-up finish in the event. Her score ranks in The American’s top 10 this year, as she became the second Cincinnati diver to meet the 1-meter Zone Diving standards this season. Roscoe also placed third in the 3-meter dive with her score of 231.05.
