CINCINNATI – Jaclyn Rosen has been hired by Mandy Commons-DiSalle to complete the 2014-15 University of Cincinnati swimming and diving staff. Rosen, a collegiate swimmer at Hawaii, comes to UC following a stint on the coaching staff at San Jose State.

“I’m very excited to have Jaclyn on board,” Commons-DiSalle said. “She has a tremendous amount of enthusiasm and passion for the sport of swimming and is a great addition to our team.”

Rosen echoed those sentiments.

“I’m really excited to be here at UC,” Rosen said. “The school has so much to offer and I’m eager to build the swimming program with Mandy, (assistant coaches) Matt (Ense), Josh (Schneider) and (diving coach) Tory (McKenna). I look forward to recruiting student-athletes who will expand on our vision and ultimately want to be on a successful team.”

Rosen served as a volunteer assistant for the Spartans for three seasons while also earning a masters of kinesiology in sports studies from San Jose State. SJSU compiled a 24-5 dual meet record while she was on the staff, including two Western Athletic Conference team championships and eight individual conference champions. Rosen also served as head swim coach of the Highlands Dolphins Aquatic Club for two years while in San Jose, directing a program of nearly 100 swimmers.

She earned Outstanding Graduate Project Award for her master’s thesis, titled “What Division I Swim Coaches Look for in the Recruiting Process.” Her research focused on the talent identification process, examining the behavioral and linguistic techniques used by coaches as they look to identify the fit between a prospective student-athlete and a team.

The San Francisco, California, native was a four-year member of the swim team at Hawaii, serving as team captain during her junior and senior seasons. The Rainbow Wahine captured the WAC team title during her senior year, when she also won the team’s Most Inspirational Award. It was her second team award with Hawaii, as she earned the Coaches Award in 2003-04. Rosen received a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in exercise science, lifestyle management and leisure activity from the University of Hawaii in 2006.

Rosen joins already announced assistants Matt Ense, Josh Schneider and Tory McKenna to round out Commons-DiSalle’s coaching staff. The Bearcats open their 2014-15 campaign on Friday, Oct. 17, when Xavier visits the Keating Aquatics Center at 5:00 p.m.

The above is a press release written by the Cincinnati Athletics Department.
