The CIF North Coast Section has released the psych sheet for the swimming and diving championships that will be held on May 10 (diving), May 11 (swimming prelims), and May 12 (swimming finals). The cutoff line for swimming events is at the 40th place. In diving, the girls have 32 entrants and the boys, 22.

Monte Vista, the defending champions in the girls’ meet, has loaded up the psych sheet with number 1 seeds in the medley relay, 200 IM (Zoie Hartman), 100 fly (Makenna Turner), and 100 breast (Hartman). They also boast a number of top-8 seeds, showing strong depth across the field. Acalanes leads the field in the 200 free relay; Miramonte in the 400 free relay. Granada’s Miranda Heckman is top seed in the 200 free and second in the 500, behind California’s Daniella Hawkins. Sophie Kosturos of Miramonte leads the qualifiers in the 50 free. Dublin freshman Claire Suen brings the fastest time in the 100 free, while Kosturos and her teammate Katrina Drake are third and second, respectively. Another freshman, Jessica Davis of Carondelet tops the field in the 100 back. Miramonte’s Brenna Cetrone is the top diver qualified for the meet.

On the boys’ side, top seeds in the relays include Campolindo in the 200 medley relay, San Ramon Valley for the 200 free relay, and Northgate in the 400 free relay. Northgate senior Alexei Sancov is #1 in the 200 free. Amador Valley’s Chris Jhong and Cole Reznick qualified 1-2 for the 200 IM. Spencer Daily of San Ramon Valley has the top times in the 50 free and 100 fly. Clayton Valley Charter’s Niklas Weigelt brings the top time in the 100 free. All times must be recorded on “Fully Automatic Timing” systems (FAT). No hand times will be accepted.

Diving: No At Large Qualifiers. Each section will get one additional entry for diving.

Interesting that Sancov did not swim 50 or 100 free. It is my understanding that a swimmer cannot contend an event at State CIF champs unless they swim it at the sectionals.
