China’s Sun Yang Appointed Deputy Director of Training At Zhejiang College

Olympic and World Champion swimmer Sun Yang of China has been appointed Deputy Director of Training at the Zhejiang College of Sports, his longtime training home. Per Asian media sources, Sun is the first athlete to hold such a position.

From the College’s personnel site, Sun appears to be joining Wang Wei, who serves as the current Director, while replacing former Deputy Director Xu Suzhen. Zhu Zhigen, one of Sun’s coaches along with Australian Denis Cotterell, serves as Head Coach of the swimming arm of Zhejiang College of Sports.

Per the school’s website, Sun’s jog responsibilities will include drafting the college’s competitive sports development plan, establishing and improving the management rules and regulations for various training competitions; guiding the construction of sports teams; formulating sports program setting and adjustment plans, and formulating athletes and coaches.’

Further, ‘the program is responsible for the appointment of coaches; it is responsible for checking the training routine management of sports programs, guiding and coordinating the training of the whole hospital; organizing coaches to participate in business training; organizing training experience exchanges, observations and seminars.’

27-year-old Sun is his nation’s most decorated Olympic swimmer, having amassed 6 medals over his 2 Olympic appearances. He most recently took individual gold in the 200m and 400m freestyle races in Gwangju, Korea while competing at the 2019 World Championships.

Sun encountered 2 protests by fellow swimmers while on the podium in Gwangju; first was Aussie Mack Horton refusing to stand on the 400m free podium, while the second was Briton Duncan Scott refusing to shake hands with the Chinese mega-star.

The athlete requested a public hearing with the Court Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which will take place this September, concerning the destruction of anti-doping blood testing vials due to requisitioners reportedly not showing proper credentials at the time of the test.

Plain and simple, Mack Horton was a sore loser when he protested his loss to Sun Yang. For those who insisted Sun cheated, Where is your evidence ? Your own intuition, paranoid, and conspiracy theory, or you are just an Anglo racist who can’t stand anyone else one of your own?

Lots of comments by people living in “Anglo bubble” who obviously didn’t read anything beyond what their Anglo media feed them.
