Canadian Giselle Gursoy Verbally Commits to WVU Mountaineers

Giselle Gursoy, from Ajax, Ontario in Canada, has verbally committed to West Virginia University.

“I am thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to West Virginia University. Academically and athletically WVU is the best place for me. I cannot wait for what the future holds. Go mountaineers!”

Gursoy, who swims for Ajax Aquatic Club, is primarily a mid-distance freestyler, but she extends her range out on both ends. She was a silver medalist among 15-year-olds in the SCM 100/200 frees (behind only Penny Oleksiak), and a bronze medalist in the SCM 50/400 frees at the Ontario Winter Short Course Championships last December. She also placed fourth in the SCM 800.

During long course season Gursoy competed in the girls 16-17 age group at the Ontario Summer Long Course Championships in Etobicoke in June. There she place fourth in the LCM 200 free, eighth in the LCM 400 free, and ninth in the LCM 800 free. Many of her top LCM times came from the MAC April Invitational in April 2016.
