WOMENS 200 FLY
Audrey Lacroix grabbed the fastest time this morning in the 200m fly with a 2:10.80. Katerine Savard followed her in 2:13.30, Noemie Thomas in 2:14.27.
Thomas finished third in both the 50 and 100m flys so she should be looking to get on top of Savard and Lacroix tonight. Lacroix has the most national experience in this event and was just out of finals last year at the 2013 World Championships.
Look for Savard to be quick, it should be a race between these three swimmers.
MENS 200 FLY
Alec Page who won the 400m IM earlier in the meet took the top seed in prelims with a time of 2:00.71. Mack Darragh from Oakville took the second fastest time in 2:00.84.
Look for 2013 World Championship team member Zack Chetrat to make a mark in finals. Earlier in the season Chetrat secured his fifth consecutive CIS championship victory in the 200m fly.
David Sharpe should also be quick tonight, clocking in at 2:02.95 this morning.
WOMENS 50 FREE
Victoria Poon swam a 25.48 to grab the fastest time for tonight’s finals in the 50m free. Poon won the 100m freestyle earlier so she’s looking to double up with sprint golds. Chantal Vanlandeghem was just behind her in 25.54.
Look for Michelle Williams of NYAC, Sandrine Mainville, and Alyson Ackman who will all be on Canada’s 4x100m freestyle relay to compete for a individual spot on the team as well.
MENS 50 FREE
Kyle Troskot swam a 22.86 entering tonights final as the top seed. Yuri Kisil, who won the men’s 100m freestyle, posted a 22.87 to take the second seed.
Look for Luke Peddie, Cameron Kidd, Chris Manning, and Kelly Aspinall all to be quick tonight as well.
WOMENS 200 IM
Sydney Pickrem clocked in at 2:15.89 this morning to take the top spot over Marni Oldershaw in the 200m IM. Oldershaw from Oakville swam a 2:16.41 grabbing the second seed.
Erika Seltenreich-Hodgson who won the 400m IM earlier will be a huge factor in the event, if not the favourite, posting a 2:16.70 this morning.
Also look for Vanessa Treasure who had a fairly good CIS Championships this year in both individual medley events.
MENS 200 IM
Evan White who’s been incredible at these championships swam a 2:00.60 in the 200m IM, a mark four seconds faster than second seed David Riley (2:04.67).
Alec Page and Luke Reilly who both qualified to swim the 400m IM at Commonwealths and Pan Pacs will both be in tonight’s final and should give White a run for his money.
Andrew Ford who’s represented Canada internationally in the 200m IM should be right up there with everyone.
The fastest heats in the men’s 1500m freestyle final and women’s 800m freestyle final will be contested tonight. Ryan Cochrane is the undisputed favourite in the 1500m free, Brittany MacLean in the 800.
