Bugby Leaves Army for Denver University, Tony Lisa Returns

Assistant coach Eric Bugby has left Army/West Point to join the Denver University program. Bugby will be replaced by DIII Rowan University’s longtime head coach Tony Lisa.

Bugby had two stints at West Point, rejoining the staff in 2014 after serving as head coach of Illinois Tech for one year. “I want to personally thank Eric for five-plus years of exceptional service to our program,” said head coach Wender. “I’ve really enjoyed the coaching partnership we’ve established through his two stints coaching on our staff. We wish him the very best in his new role at Denver.”

Lisa served as an assistant coach for Army from 2007-2009. In an interview with CollegeSwimming, head coach Mickey Wender said that “Tony is an iconic coach who did an amazing job when he coached with us previously, we are so grateful to welcome him back to the Army swimming and diving family.”

“It is an honor to be back at West Point,” stated Lisa. “The opportunity to work with this team again is exciting and I’m really looking forward to working with Coach Wender and his staff.”
