Buckeyes Sign Pennsylvania Native Katie Antal

Bill Dorenkott and Liz Hinkleman inked another swimmer from the Class of 2014 with Katie Antal. Antal will make her way to Ohio via Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania area. She swims year round for Seneca Valley Swim Club, under Head Coach Brian Blackwell.

Antal gave up her junior season for the Slippery Rock Rockets to focus on her training at SVSC. It paid off when she qualified for USA Swimming Summer Juniors and Winter Nationals in the 100 breaststroke this past summer at Junior Olympics.

Antal became a breaststroker by chance due to a shoulder injury in her freshman year. And just under two years with Coach Blackwell, Antal achieved a lifelong dream of qualifying at the National level.

In addition, waking up and walking over to the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion will be a big relief for Antal; she commutes upwards to 45 minutes to train every day at SVSC, plus trains in the morning by herself at a local pool.

Her best times are as follows:
100 Breaststroke: 1:05.06/1:13.71
200 Breaststroke: 2:27.44/2:49.02
50 Freestyle: 24.94/27.80
200 IM: 2:12.75/2:34.08
