After a great showing against Northeast Conference powers Wagner and Central Connecticut this weekend in Staten Island, junior Kelci Abernethy (Chandler, Ariz.) and freshman Alexa Rivera (Boynton Beach, Fla.) were honored with NEC Weekly honors, the conference announced Tuesday.

Abernethy was named the conference’s Diver of the Week for the third time this season after sweeping the events at the Seahawk Invite this weekend. The Chandler, Ariz. native controlled the 3-meter event, winning it by close to 16 points after finishing with a score of 247.70. She then narrowly defeated teammate Carissa Stemen (Naples, Fla.) in the 1-meter, winning by 0.80.

Rivera won three races at the Seahawk Invite over the weekend, winning the 100 free and 200 IM while helping her 200 medley relay team win. Her times in the 200 IM (2:08.97) and 100 free (53.12) rank second and fourth in the NEC this season, respectively, while here time in the 100 back (59.01) falls fifth on the leaderboard.

This is the second time in the last three seasons that Abernethy has won multiple Diver of the Week awards. She won five her freshman year. Rivera is the first Rookie of the Week since February 2, 2016 when Jillian Rice (Trumbull, Conn.) won it.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Sunday when they travel north to Burlington, Vt. for an 11 a.m.duel with Vermont.
