Lauren Brantley will join the women’s team at Rice University beginning in the 2020-2021 season.

British national swimmer Lauren Brantley has announced her intention to swim at Rice University beginning in the 2020-2021 season. Brantley shared the news by stating, “I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to study and swim at Rice University! Rice offers the perfect combination of elite academics and athletics. I am so thankful to my coach, my family, and my friends who have supported me through this whole process. I can’t wait to be a part of such an amazing team. Go Owls!

Brantley swims year-round for the London-based Camden Swiss Cottage Swimming Club. She specialized in the 50, 100, and 200 fly, as well as the 200 IM. Since the age of 14, Brantley has consistently qualified for the British Summer and Winter Nationals, and the British Championships. She has also competed at the international level, first in Dubai for the Middle East Open and Junior Championships, and next for the 2020 Luxembourg Euro Meet in January. She has qualified for the British Olympic Trials in all four of her top events.

Top Times:

Maddy Howe won the gold in the 100 fly, and five of the Rice women qualified for the A-final in the 200 fly. Brantley will be joining Elizabeth Myers, Lauren Hurt, Mimi Filkin, and Sarah Kutz as a member of the class of 2024.

Coach Huston has done a good job at recruiting this class. The incoming freshmen should make a huge impact on the success of this team
