Brazil’s Ana Luiza Daisson Commits to Florida International for Fall 2022

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Ana Luiza Daisson from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil announced in July that she committed to Florida International University for fall 2022.

I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at FIU!! I want to thank my coach, teammates, friends, and family for helping me achieve this goal, and can not wait to be a part of the team! Paws up!🐾”

Primarily a freestyler, Daisson set most of her lifetime bests at the UANA Swimming Cup in February 2020. At that meet she set long course best times in the 50 (28.33), 100 (1:01.01), and 200 (2:08.31) freestyles.

She also is ranked in the top 100 all-time for Brazil in numerous long course events. She is ranked 37th in the 400 IM, 62nd in the 200 freestyle, 63rd in the 400 freestyle, 85th in the 50 freestyle, and 93rd in the 100 freestyle.

Her long course times, converted to short course yards:

  • 50 freestyle: 28.33 (converts to 24.08 SCY)
  • 100 freestyle: 1:01.01 (converts to 53.52 SCY)
  • 200 freestyle: 2:08.31 (converts to 1:52.71 SCY)
  • 400 freestyle: 4:35.22 (converts to 5:08.36 SCY)
  • 400 IM: 5:14.61 (converts to 4:37.66 SCY)

Florida International University is a public university located in Miami, Florida. The school is a member of Conference USA (C-USA).

FIU is known for having many international swimmers. During the 2019-2020 season, 20 out of the 31 swimmers on the roster were from outside of the U.S. At the 2021 C-USA Championships, the FIU women won their seventh consecutive conference title, scoring 956.5 points.

Based on her best times, Daisson has the potential to be an immediate points scorer for the school. Both her 200 freestyle and 400 IM best times would have finished 15th at the conference championships. She also would have qualified for the non-scoring C final in the 50, 100, and 500 freestyles.

Daisson will arrive on campus in fall 2022.
