Bowman to Bring ASU to 2015 Art Adamson Invitational

Texas A&M will host the annual Art Adamson Invitational on Nov. 19-21, with a bit of a twist this year. Prelims will be held in long course meters, with finals in short course yards. This gives swimmers a chance to qualify for Olympic Trials at a meet that is typically a mid-season rest for most of the athletes in attendance.

During their first season under new head coach Bob Bowman, the Arizona State men and women will make no change in their mid-season focus, travelling to College Station to swim in the invite for the 2nd year in a row.

LSU is also scheduled to travel to the meet, giving the Aggies some SEC competition. That’ll be a good matchup between the men’s teams especially. They were very close at the SEC Championships last season, with the Aggies beating the Tigers by less than 20 points.

The biggest challenger for the Texas A&M women will be Stanford. The Cardinal women placed 3rd at last year’s NCAAs to the Aggies’ 4th. The Stanford men, however, will not return this season.

Also bringing only women to the meet is Boise State (pending confirmation by the new coaching staff) and San Diego State, though without their former star Anika Apostalon. Nebraska will bring only their women’s divers this year.

Utah will bring their men and women. They’ve traditionally passed on this meet, and this will be their first time at the Art Adamson Invitational. The Utes have been to several different invites over the past few years, including the Mizzou Invitational and Texas Hall of Fame Meet.

Adding some competition from the home state, Texas A&M’s rivals TCU and SMU will make the short trip to College Station with both their men’s and women’s teams.
