Jakub Korek of the Bolles School Sharks has given his verbal commitment to the Iona College Gaels. The senior has been voted a captain for his final season of secondary competition.
“I chose Iona College because I believe it can help me be successful both in the pool and class. The school has a great business program, and its proximity to NYC provides me with limitless opportunities to apply my knowledge in real life environment. On the swimming side, the program is lead by two great and experienced coaches. The team itself consist of great, outgoing, and committed people that I cannot wait to be teammates with for the next 4 years and win the MAAC together!
Go GAELS!!!” -Korek

Korek’s best times are:

  • 100-yard breaststroke: 58.97
  • 200-yard breaststroke: 2:06.86
  • 200-yard IM: 1:55.73
  • 400-yard IM: 4:09.41

Korek’s best times would place him on the Iona men’s swimming top-12 best performances list four times. His 400-yard IM places him 2nd, his 200-yard breast places him 3rd, his 200-yard IM places him 4th and his 100-yard breast places him 5th.
