Boilermakers Gain Commitment from Arizona Backstroker Kaleb Gould

Purdue recently landed a commitment from Arizona backstroke stand-out Kaleb Gould.  Kaleb has the versatility to be placed anywhere Coach Ross may need him, but his backstroke should make an immediate contribution for the Boilermakers.

Kaleb currently swims for Kevin Zacher at Scottsdale Aquatic Club.   He also recently wrapped up his high school season at Horizon High School in Scottsdale where he holds the Team Record in the 100 back. Horizon Head Coach Samantha Kramer had this to say: “I am so proud of you and so excited for this next chapter in your book. Can’t wait to see the amazing things you do going forward.”

At the recent 2015 Arizona High School Division I State Championships Kaleb placed 3rd overall in the 100 back. He made finals at Speedo Western Sectionals in July, placing as high as fourth in the 200 back. At Junior Nationals this summer, Kaleb also picked up his first Winter Nationals cuts in the long course 100 and 200 meter backstrokes.

Kaleb plans to pursue a degree in Aviation Engineering Technology at Purdue. He told SwimSwam: “I chose Purdue because the swim team has high energy, is fun to be around and is very welcoming. The coaching staff is great and I know they will strive to help me achieve success as a swimmer in the Big 10 and beyond.”
