BNY’s Sidney Kennedy Verbally Commits to In-State Fighting Illini

Sidney Kennedy, a two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American from Bloomington, Illinois, has elected to remain in-state and will swim for the University of Illinois in the fall. Abby Martin has also given a verbal commitment to the the Fighting Illini for 2018-19.

Kennedy is a senior at University High School who swims year-round with Waves Bloomington/Normal Y Swim Team. She swam the 500 free and 1650 free at Winter Junior Nationals West and anchored BNY’s 200 free relay and 400 free relay. At the SCY season finale, Iowa City Sectionals, Kennedy placed in the top-8 in the 500, 1000, and 1650 freestyle events, earning a PB in the 500. In long course season she won the 1500 free at the Illinois Swimming Senior Championships. She finished third in the 800 free, fourth in the 400, and 22nd in the 200; her 400 and 200 times were lifetime bests.
