Veronica Burchill

Veronica Burchill is the daughter of Tom and Bethany Burchill. She is from Carmel, Indiana, and is majoring in Human Development and Family Science at the University of Georgia.

High School

Burchill graduated from Carmel High School and was a 15 time State Champion. Carmel High School won three national titles during her tenure. Burchill was a member of the USA Junior National Team in 2015 and 2016.

College (Georgia Bulldogs)

Burchill was awarded the recipient of the Lisa Coole Memorial Scholarship. Burchill was named the SEC Female Freshman of the Week after the UGA Fall Invitational.

2016-2017

At the 2017 SEC Champs, Burchill finished third in the 100 Free, 11th in the 100 butterfly and 12th in the 50 freestyle. She helped the 200and 400 Free Relays to first place finishes and the 800 Free Relay to third place.

At the 2017 NCAA Championships, Burchill earned All-American status by swimming on Georgia’s 4×50 (3rd), 4×100 (2nd), 4×200 (7th). She also placed 31st in the 50 free, 13th in the 100 fly, and 22nd in the 100 free.

2017-2018

In 2018, Burchill swam on all 5 of Georgia’s relays, all of which earned All-American honorable mentions. Burchill earned 2 more All-American honorable mentions by placing 10th in the 100 fly (51.48) and 9th in the 100 free (47.49).

2018-2019

Burchill continued to progress during her junior year. She finished third in the 100 freestyle, fourth in the 100 butterfly, and ninth in the 50 freestyle at SECs. For these swims, she earned distinction on the 2019 All-SEC Second Team. At the NCAA’s, Burchill swam the second leg of the 11th place 800 and 14th place 200 freestyle relays, as well as legs on all 3 other relays. Individually, she placed 27th in the 100 fly (52.29) and 12th (48.03) in the 100 free.

National/International Competition

2018 Summer Nationals

In Irvine, Burchill placed 8th in the 50 fly (26.85), 6th in the 100 fly (58.59), and 10th in the 100 free (54.51), qualifying her for the 2019 World University Games in all 3 events.

2018 Short Course World Championships

In Hangzhou, Burchill swam on prelims of the 4×50, 4×100, and 4×200 free relays, garnering 2 golds and a silver.

2019 World University Games

Burchill started the 2019 WUG’s on the women’s 4×100 free relay, where she helped USA take home gold with a split of 55.39 in the 1st spot. In the 100 free individually, Burchill touched 3rd in a time of 55.05 to secure individual bronze.
