Nikki Flynn

Background

Born in 1994 to Jeff and Lisa Flynn, Nikki has always enjoyed athletics. Nikki started swimming in 2005 due to a knee injury that prevented her from participating in any land based sports. Her commitment level to the sport increased exponentially in high school, when she earned her first state qualifying time. She is now in her third year competing for Oakland University, majoring in Health Sciences.

High School

Nikki was coached by Todd Brunty at Saline High School. Her first year in the program marked the first time Saline would be a contender for the Michigan Swimming Division 1 State Title, finishing 4th. In 2009 and 2010 the Saline High School Girl’s Swim and Dive Team finished 1st at the Michigan D1 State Meet, and were runners up in 2011.

College

2012-2013: Nikki entered her freshman year at Oakland University while they were still competing in the Summit League. The team finished first in the conference. Individually, Nikki touched the wall first in both the 100-yard and 200-yard freestyles.

2013-2014: That year was the first year that Oakland University competed in the Horizon League. Both the men’s and women’s team won the championships, bringing back the first Horizon League titles to Oakland University. Nikki was also a part of the school-record setting 400-yard Medley Relay.
