Keith Murphy is a sprint free and breaststroke specialist at the University of Texas. Murphy is tall, standing at six-foot-six, and his best event is the 100 freestyle. The senior, from Houston, Texas, studies mechanical engineering and has been on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll every semester at UT.

Murphy focused on two meets his freshman year: the Texas Invite and the American Short Course Championships. At the Invite, he swam the 100 breast and the 200 IM, and at the Short Course Championships, he showed some versatility finishing 11th in the 50 free, 11th in the 100 breast and 12th in the 200 free.
In his second season at UT Murphy made some big drops in his events. At the Big 12 Championships Murphy swam in the 50 free exhibition heats and the 100 freestyle exhibition heats.
During his junior year Murphy qualified for the NCAA Championships for the first time. He swam the 100 free, 50 free and 200 free, finishing 32nd, 44th and 38th overall. Murphy also swam in the exhibition heats at the Big 12 Championships, where he dropped under 20 seconds in the 50 free.
At the 2012 AT&T Winter Nationals Murphy swam the 100 breast and the 100 free.
