Danas Rapsys

Danas Rapsys is a competitive swimmer who represents Lithuania internationally.

2013 World Junior Championships

Rapsys broke onto the international scene in 2013 at the world JR champ, where he won double silver in the 100 backstroke and as a member of the mixed 4×100 medley relay.

2016 Olympic Games

In Rio, Rapsys swam the 100 and 200 backstroke, finishing 24th in the 100 back and 21st in the 200.

2017 World University Games

At the 2017 Universaide, Rapsys was a triple medal winner, scoring double gold in the 200 free and 200 back while also earning a bronze in the 100 back.

2018 European Championships

After being seeded 1st out of prelims and semis, Rapsys won a silver medal in the 200 free in Glasgow.

2018 Short Course World Championships

Rapsys won the 400 freestyle title at the short course world championships in 3:34.01, a championships record time. He picked up the silver medal in the 200 free (1:41.78). Later in the meet, he went on to break the 200free championships record while leading off Lithuania’s 4×200 free relay in prelims, touching at 1:40.85. Rapsys finished 16th in the 100 free (47.25) and 14th in the 200 back (1:52.25).

2019 World Championships

Rapsys started his World Champs in the 400 free, where he was just outside of medaling in the final, finishing 4th with a time of 3:43.50. In the 200 free, Rapsys swam a well-paced race, surging on the final 50 and touching first with a time of 1:44.69. However, he was ultimately disqualified for a false start, rendering him medal-less.

2021 European Championships (Budapest, Hungary)

Rapsys took a bronze medal in the 400 free in Budapest, touching at 3:45.39.

2020 Olympic Games

In Tokyo, Rapsys swam the 200 and 400 freestyles. In the 400 free on the first day of competition, he missed the final, placing 13th in the prelims in 3:46.32. In the 200 free, Rapsys moved through the prelims and semi-finals, qualifying for the final and ultimately placing 8th in 1:45.78.

2021 Short Course World Championships

After coming home empty-handed in Tokyo, Rapsys got onto the podium in both of his events in Abu Dhabi, On night 1, he made the final of the 400 free and wound up 2nd at night in 3:36.23 for silver. Later in the competition, he made the final of the 200 free and placed 3rd at night in 1:41.73, reaping bronze.
