Benjamin Parker

Background

Ben moved to Florida when he was in 4th grade and needed a hobby to pick up in his new town so he turned to swimming. He swam with the Berkeley Barracudas for 4 years before switching to the Tampa Bay Aquatics team. Ben traveled from Florida to John Carroll University where he majors in Mathematics and minors in Economics and Classics. When he’s not crunching numbers or swimming laps, Ben likes to golf and play piano.

High School

Swimming for the Jesuit Tigers, Ben saw gradual improvement throughout his high school career. He primarily swam distance freestyle events.  In both the 200 and 500-yard freestyle, Ben placed in the top 8 at the regional meet all four years. He also was a one year state qualifier and the district champion in the 500-yard freestyle.

College

2013-2014: As a Blue Streak, Ben added the 400-yard I.M. to his repertoire which he won at the first dual meet of the season.  He also placed 4th in the event at the mid-season invitational. Due to health issues, Ben was unable to compete in his freshman championship meet.

2014-2015: Ben continued to lead the distance group during his sophomore season. He regularly competed in the mile, 1000 and 500-yard freestyles in addition to the 400-yard I.M. Ben placed 8th in the mile, 9th in the 500, and 12th in the 400 I.M. at the mid-season meet. Finally healthy, Ben swam in the first prelim session at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championship meet, but injured his foot in a morning relay swim. He was unable to compete in the rest of the meet but stayed and supported his teammates.
