Barbara Sabal

After a short stint as a young teenage swimmer, Barb was thrust happily back into the realm of the swim world in 2006 as a “swim mom” and also joined a Masters training group. As the kids got more busy and needed more rides around town to practices and meets, her swimming took a backseat to theirs (insert mom comment here).  She and her husband have raised 4 swimmers through the ranks with 3 of them still in the water – one daughter swimming in high school and two sons swimming at the collegiate level.

Barb is actively involved in the South Metro Storm Swim Club as Meet Director and has volunteered in nearly every role for the club over the years.  She shares her swim-geekiness with her kids, attempting to “watch” every meet she can (thank you Internet), and is thrilled by the growth the sport and its community have seen over the years.
Educated at the University of Minnesota (don’t ask how long ago), Barb seeks to find balance in her roles as wife, mother and passionate swim volunteer with her career as a nurse.  With the carpool days nearly over, she’s looking forward to dipping her toes back into the Masters pool again soon.
