Alex Katz
Alex Katz is a swimmer at the University of Michigan, where he’s studying in the College of Literature, Science and the Arts. Born May 1, 1996 Katz competed for the Sarasota Sharks and graduated from Riverview High School. Katz is a freshman at Michigan, and he was a member of the U.S. National Junior Team. He’s primarily a backstroke and freestyle specialist, he can really swim any distance, but Michigan has used him for the 200 to 500 distances. In the 2014 recruiting class Katz was the no. 27 recruit overall, the third-ranked recruit in Florida, and was noted as an “all-around threat” by collegeswimming.com. He really can swim anything – he’s got competitive times in the 400 IM, mid-to-distance freestyle, butterfly and the backstrokes. Swimming apparently runs in his blood – his sister, Taylor Katz, is a swimmer for the University of Florida.
