Beisel Talks Injury, Expected Return to Racing

During tonight’s Arena Pro Swim Series at Orlando, Elizabeth Beisel paid a visit to Rowdy Gaines where they briefly discussed her recent injury, rehab and recovery, as well as which competition is next in her game plan.

Beisel described how she suffered a groin strain during the 400m IM race at the Arena Pro Swim Series’ Austin stop, which later caused her to withdraw from the BHP Billiton Aquatic Super Series in Perth, Australia.  Beisel said she has “2 or 3 more weeks of rehab”, but should be ready to race at the next Pro Swim Series event in Mesa on April 15-18th.

In the meantime, Beisel said the injury still causes pain during breaststroke, as well as pushing off the wall during turns, preventing her from practicing all four disciplines of the 400m IM event she was scheduled to swim tonight in Orlando.  However, Beisel certainly made it known that she is absolutely still targeting Katie Hoff’s American Record in the event, as Beisel’s best time of 4:31.27 is just .15 shy of Hoff’s mark.
