The Southeastern Swimming LSC, which covers Tennessee, Alabama, and the Florida Panhandle, has named its 2013 award winners, and the Baylor School came up big. Head coach of the combined high school and club program Dan Flack took coach of the year honors, while one of his top pupils, Sam McHugh, was named the swimmer of the year.
National Times Chair Robby Dellinger was honored with the Outstanding Service award as well.
McHugh earned the honor by way of his appointment to the Junior National Team in the 200 fly; his 1:59.23 at the U.S. Open set the LSC record.
His coach, Flack, led a total of 10 All-American honors last year, including swimmers like Cal freshman Kristen Vredeveld. Two members of the Baylor School team swam at the World Junior Championships (albeit representing other countries) and three former Baylor swimmers competed at the World University Games.
This is Flack’s 2nd time to win this award; he also took it in 2007.
